Quarter Pounder: The Store!

Apparently there is a McDonald's restaurant in Tokyo, Japan called QUARTER POUNDER that sells only two items:
  1. Quarter Pounder with cheese
  2. Double Quarter Pounder with cheese
The first image is a grab from the QUARTER POUNDER store website.

The second image is a grab from broccolicity.com website, where The McChronicles first heard of this interesting concept.

From what we're able to gather, if you're in Tokyo, head to Omotesando Shibuya East and you'll be close (there's a map on the website).

It also appears that some beverages are also available, as are fries, though they do not appear on the menu that is on the website (though they do appear in an image there). Another hint at that is the fact that the store sells the Quarter Pounder as a "set" meal. Makes sense.

I'm not convinced that it's really affiliated with McDonald's. I went to both of your sources and they don't cite sources. No confirmation on USA or Japan McDonald's sites. The Quarter Pounder store's website has standalone copyrights and trademark notations on the term Quarter Pounder without assigning ownership to McDonald's Corp.

My bet is that this is a knockoff that needs to be brought down. Release the clowns!

Thanks, Ken. McDonald's Japan program doesn't make sense to me. This generic, confusing branding is wrong for three reasons:

1. McDonald's knows that many tests have revealed that people believe that food placed in McDonald's packaging is reported to taste better http://www.nowpublic.com/young_children_prefer_taste_branded_fast_foods

2. The last thing you want to do to your brand is create confusion and minimize confidence in the brand.

3. Counterfeiting is a serious problem that results in losses in sales and expenditures in going after the bad guys. For a company to present themselves as a counterfeit (or generic knockoff) just muddies the waters.

Just my opinion, yours may differ.
