McDonald's Egg Nog Shake

Like the Shamrock Shake, McDonald's Egg Nog Shake is a seasonal treat with a limited availability.

The McChronicles has discussed the Egg Nog Shake before, with regards to spotty availability. Last evening, while others were migrating en masse to the malls, The McChronicles navigated HEAVY holiday traffic to experience the 2008 Egg Nog product.

Availability: we pulled into our closest local McDonald's (no "Egg Nog Shake" promo on the exterior) and requested the product. No problem, it was available and pushed across the counter in minutes.

Quality: The Egg Nog Shake was quick, easy, cool, and clean - almost everything we are promised - and hope for. The McChronicles took a sip and detected a peculiar flavor - something a bit "chemically" that clearly rang out and put a bit of a damper on the experience.

Maybe it was just us, or maybe it was the store, or maybe it is the 2008 recipe. We don't know. But The McChronicles WILL head out today for a resample at a different McDonald's. More later.

I bought an egg nog shake at McDonalds last month and thoroughly enjoyed the first half, but by the second half I noticed the weird aftertaste and i couldnt finish it. Strange stuff.

  3. The eggnog shakes were not available in Central Kentucky in the 2008 holiday season. I was really bummed about that. I also stopped at every McDonalds advertised on Interstate-65N & I-70W on the way through Indiana and not a single one carried it either. :(

I hope Christmas season 2009 brings the eggnog milkshake back to the region.

The bad after taste comes from the nutmeg that is sprinkled on top. It saints the last half as it mixes in. I just request that they leave it off and what I get is delicious all the way through.

  14. Eggnog shakes are back in Central KY for another year. They've actually sold out at one location and had to restock the syrup. That's a great sign people are buying them around here, ensuring more supply in future years! It's my one guilty pleasure. I pretty much obstained from McDonalds the last 2 years until this time of year when I indulge in the eggnog shakes. I am thrilled they are available again this year. The eggnog syrup does seem to have a tendency to 'break down' the milk shake machines. It happened excessively around here last year and once so far this year. My bet is the syrup is thicker than the other flavors and thus causes issues for the machines. I hope the person in Detroit will get some eggnog shake. I feel for ya! I've been there some years and always fear it could happen again around here (hence why I keep buying more LOL).

Well, I called 5 different McDonalds near me and NONE of them are getting them this year. Illinois is not only corrupt but anti-xmas session Egg Nog Shakes. I am moving now.

2014 is a big fail for Central Kentucky on eggnog shakes. No one has them here either this year. :(
