The McChronicles combined two McDonald's Arch Cards today. It went off without a hitch.
First we asked the crew person if this was possible (we'd heard it was - wanted to see if they were confident of the fact). They were 90% sure it would work.
We gave them one of those free $1 cards from Christmas - it worked - then our regular Arch Card. We all watched with expectation until it, too, worked its magic.
The receipt told us that card #1 was empty and that card #2 still had a balance available.
Excellent!

You could have just asked us!! I've worked at McDonald's about 4 months now & I do it all the time. I think some of the workers stole the arch cards off the boxes because a few of them have stacks of them!
ReplyDeleteI am extremely disappointed with the McDonalds arch card program. I am a teacher that works with emotionally disturbed students. Students with a high incidence of self-harm. My co-workers and I have been searching for the perfect prize incentive for good behavior. We thought we had found it when we saw the $1 arch cards over christmas. Yesterday, I went to the local McDonalds and asked to buy 30 $1 arch cards to use as a reward for my students. I was told I could only buy them in denominations of $5 and up. I am not rich and I cannot afford to spend $5 on every student when they do something worthy. I would think that it wouldn't matter how much each card is sold for. They are still selling cards.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting point. We wonder if it has to do with the cost of administering the program (per card). Still, we all know that no one will buy just one thing that costs $1. We guess that, armed with a $1 card, an average person would spend about $4.
ReplyDeleteThat said, we also think that one goal of this program is to eliminate the cashier getting involved with the transaction. In other words, with a bill of $4, and with $10 on a card, the cashier only has to ring us up then get the food.
We'd be interested in McDonald's take on this.
